Led by a professionally trained chef and baker, Uncle Mimi's Kitchen makes everything fresh and local here on Martha's Vineyard.
Tammy started baking out of her kitchen in Chilmark and is happy to share her love of delicious breads and baked goods with all of you. Our small-batch, artisanal products are made with the highest-quality ingredients — and we hope you enjoy every bite!
We often are asked about the name and its origins. As a toddler, Tammy's nephew called her “Mimi” and lovingly assumed both she and her husband were uncles. His favorite place to eat, he insisted, was “Uncle Mimi's Restaurant” — and it still is today.

Before launching Uncle Mimi’s Kitchen in Chilmark, Tammy spent over twenty years honing her craft across the food world. Professionally trained in both the culinary arts and bread baking, Tammy has worked extensively across New York City and Martha's Vineyard as a baker, private chef, and hands-on cooking instructor — sharing her passion for exceptional food with everyone from home cooks to private dinner party guests.
Her skills include writing and recipe testing, real-time culinary coaching, and years of developing recipes rooted in fresh, vibrant, seasonal flavors. Today, Tammy brings her classic training and deep love for artisanal baking straight to Martha's Vineyard, elevating simple, high-quality ingredients into exceptional everyday treats.
Nina got her start training under her mother, Tammy. She braided her first challah at three years old, and hasn't stopped since. She worked as the head chef and baker at Dartmouth Hillel for four years, cooking dinners and baking bread for 250 people weekly. Since then, she has worked as a private chef, caterer, and baking workshop instructor across the northeast. She is passionate about making great food and sharing it with great people.
Natalie is the sales and marketing mastermind behind Uncle Mimi's. She is the most enthusiastic champion of our products and was the catalyst for starting the business back in 2024. Recently, she has joined us in the kitchen and has become a master challah braider!
Classes
Join us for a fun and informative Challah Baking Class on the Vineyard. Learn the fundamentals of dough preparation, master beautiful braiding techniques, and take home the skills (and recipes) to bake fresh, bakery-quality challah whenever you crave it.
